Exploring Computer Science

The goal of Exploring Computer Science is to gain a deeper understanding of computational devices and the career paths available in the field of computer science. In this course you will develop problem solving and programming skills that are relevant and current. The Exploring Computer Science curriculum is a framework designed to provide you with a sense of what computer devices can do and the role computer scientists play in the world. The topics covered in the course include Human Computer Interaction, The Internet, Web Design, Intro to Programming, App Design & Development, 3D Printing, Artificial Intelligence and IOT.

Exploring Computer Science: Scope and Sequence

Robotics 1

Robotics is a lab-based course that uses a hands-on approach to introduce the basic concepts of robotics, focusing on the construction and programming of autonomous mobile robots. Students will work in groups to build and test increasingly more complex mobile robots, culminating in an end-of-semester robot contest. We will be using Lego Mindstom Robotics Kits and the VEX Robotic Design System as our platform. The goal of Robotics 1 is to gain a deeper understanding of programmable. The topics covered in this course include the current state of robotics, androids, cyborgs, bionics, artificial intelligence and sensors.

AP Computer Science Principles

Computing affects almost all aspects of modern life and all students deserve a computing education that prepares them to pursue the wide array of intellectual and career opportunities that computing has made possible. Computer Science Principles (CSP) curriculum is a fullyear, rigorous, entrylevel course that introduces high school students to the foundations of modern computing. The course covers a broad range of foundational topics such as programming, algorithms, the Internet, big data, digital privacy and security, and the societal impacts of computing. AP Computer Science Principles will give students the opportunity to use technology to address real-world problems and build relevant solutions. Together, these aspects of the course make up a rigorous and rich curriculum that aims to broaden participation in computer science.
